Can love transmigrate? That is the question of Gabriel Mariño's Yesterday Wonder I, a magic realism story about a soul as it wanders through multiple bodies, trying to keep alive its love for a hairdresser. The film won an OJO award and Sonia Franco (Ana) received Best Actress at Morelia Film Festival.
A lonely character in Mexico City slips through life by uncontrollably changing from one body to the next, traveling through and ultimately abandoning them when he’s done. His boredom and hopelessness are thrown into stark relief by his love for Luisa. He thus begins a struggle to communicate that love through different faces and bodies, hoping to find a way to be with her despite his condition.
